A couple months back, we shared the upgrade we completed at an energy plant in Brazil, where the customer was having a hard time reading the level in their traditional boiler water glass gage. Our solution was installing a Simpliport® 180 Bi-Color Ported Water Gage Glass with the optional Sun Shield.
We now have video confirming the results, and it's exactly what we hoped for: clear, bright viewing from any angle and any distance — even in direct sun.
Why the Sun Shield Follow-Up Matters
Outdoor and high-sunlight installations create a specific visibility challenge that indoor boiler rooms don't face: even a bright, high-contrast LED indication system can wash out when direct sun hits the viewing hood at certain angles or times of day. The Sun Shield accessory was added specifically to address this, and this update video shows it holding up in real operating conditions — not just as a spec claim.
What the Video Shows
The follow-up footage demonstrates the Simpliport 180's core advantage in action under sunlight: operators can read the bright red or green steam/water indication clearly regardless of where they're standing within the 180-degree viewing range, without the glare-related washout that a traditional gage design would experience in the same outdoor conditions.
Why We Share Updates Like This
It's one thing to install equipment and move on to the next project. It's another to follow up and confirm the solution is actually performing as intended once it's been in service under real conditions.
