Unique Product Solutions: Flanged Sight Flow Indicator with Integrated Globe Valve

We wanted to share one of our unique product solutions — a Flanged Bulls-Eye Sight Flow Indicator equipped with an integrated globe valve, built for a chemical company in Western Canada. A huge thank you to everyone on our Jacoby-Tarbox manufacturing and sales team involved in bringing this special order together.
What Makes This Solution Unique
A standard Bulls-Eye sight flow indicator gives operators a simple visual confirmation that flow is present in a line — a round viewing port set into the pipeline. On its own, it tells you whether fluid is flowing, but not how much, and it doesn't give you any way to adjust that flow at the same point.
Integrating a globe valve directly into the sight flow indicator assembly changes that. A globe valve is specifically designed for throttling — precisely regulating flow rate, not just fully opening or closing a line. By combining the two into a single assembly, this customer gained the ability to visually confirm flow and adjust that flow rate at exactly the same point in the process, rather than needing separate, disconnected fittings for viewing and throttling.
Why This Combination Matters for Process Control
In a typical installation, visual flow confirmation and flow throttling might happen at two different points along a pipeline, requiring an operator to coordinate between what they're seeing at the sight glass and what they're adjusting at a separate valve elsewhere in the line. Combining both functions into one assembly:
Eliminates the guesswork of correlating a visual reading at one location with an adjustment made somewhere else
Reduces the number of separate fittings, connections, and potential leak points in the line
Simplifies the physical footprint of the installation
Gives operators immediate visual feedback on the effect of a throttling adjustment as they make it
Why This Was a Custom Order
This wasn't a catalog part — it was engineered specifically for this chemical company's application in Western Canada. Building a combined sight-flow-and-throttling assembly requires coordinating the flanged connection sizing, the bulls-eye viewing port placement, and the globe valve's internal trim to work together as a single reliable unit rather than as separately sourced components bolted together after the fact.
