What a Tubular Sight Flow Indicator Is

A tubular sight flow indicator uses a transparent glass tube to give operators a direct, continuous view of fluid flowing through a pipeline - confirming flow is present, checking flow direction, or visually verifying process fluid clarity. Like other transparent glass instrumentation, the tube itself is exposed directly to process fluid and pressure, which is why periodic rebuild and maintenance matters over the life of the unit.


Signs a Tubular Sight Flow Indicator Needs Attention

Similar to the wear patterns operators watch for on gage glass, a tubular sight flow indicator can show staining, clouding, or a worn appearance that hinders clear viewing over time. Left unaddressed, deteriorating visibility undermines the entire purpose of the instrument - if operators can't clearly see the flow, the sight indicator isn't doing its job regardless of whether the pipeline itself is functioning normally.

Seals and gaskets at the connection points are also subject to the same wear factors as any other pressure-retaining glass instrument - thermal cycling, sustained pressure, and age can all reduce sealing integrity over time, making periodic inspection and rebuild an expected part of ownership rather than a sign something has gone wrong.
