We are thrilled to announce that our Jerguson Magnetostrictive Transmitter has achieved registration with the FieldComm Group and now proudly features HART 7 capability. All JMT shipments moving forward will automatically include this functionality.

What FieldComm Group Registration Actually Verifies

FieldComm Group is the independent standards organization responsible for HART, FOUNDATION Fieldbus, and related industrial communication protocols. Registration with FieldComm Group isn't a marketing claim - it's third-party verification that a device meets the actual technical specification for the protocol it claims to support, rather than simply advertising HART compatibility without formal certification behind it.

Why HART 7 Is a Meaningful Step Up

HART 7 represents a more advanced version of the HART communication standard compared to Generic HART, with real practical differences:

Getting the EDD/FDI Files

Users can download the EDD (Electronic Device Description) / FDI (Field Device Integration) files from the FieldComm Group's website or at jerguson.com. These files are what allow control system software to properly recognize and communicate with the JMT using its full HART 7 feature set - without them, a control system may only see basic functionality rather than the transmitter's complete diagnostic and configuration capabilities.

Upgrade Program for Existing Generic HART Units

If you are currently using a Jerguson Magnetostrictive Transmitter with Generic HART, an upgrade program is available to transition to HART 7. The upgrade process is straightforward: simply replace the existing electronics module with the new HART 7 compatible module - no need to replace the entire transmitter or disturb the mechanical installation itself.

This matters for facilities that specified JMT transmitters before HART 7 registration was achieved: rather than facing a full replacement to gain the new capability, the upgrade path is a targeted module swap.
