Enhancing Efficiency with Eye-Hye® SmartLevel™ Remote Water Level Indication System in a Chemical Plant

A small chemical plant faced challenges with inconsistent readings from Differential Pressure (DP) transmitters used for drum level monitoring. Due to this inconsistency, they wanted to have redundant level reading at the drum level. Budget constraints limited their options, but the operational inconvenience was significant—operators had to climb four floors to manually verify levels on a glass gage whenever discrepancies arose.

To address these concerns, we introduced our Eye-Hye® SmartLevel™ Remote Water Level Indication System. This system included remote displays at ground level and in the control room, eliminating the need for frequent trips to the glass gage. Additionally, the system featured dry switches integrated into the control unit, enabling audible alarms in the control room to alert operators when action was required.

Since 1959, Eye-Hye® Indicators have provided remote indication of boiler water level, trusted by operators of thousands of boilers worldwide. The all new Eye-Hye® SmartLevel™ Boiler Indication System adds patented technology to intelligently monitor the condition of its probes which sense water level in the boiler’s steam drum. When the probes require cleaning to remove residue and mineral build-up to maintain their accuracy, the system’s smart technology unambiguously notifies the control room or other remote locations that a probe column blowdown (cleaning) is necessary. If the blue light on the indicator is illuminated, a blowdown is needed.

This upgrade improved operational efficiency, enhanced safety, and provided a cost-effective solution for the plant's redundancy and monitoring needs.
