What Safety Ballcheck Valves Do
Function in the System
A safety ballcheck valve is installed between the gage glass and the vessel (boiler, tank, or process vessel) it monitors. Its purpose: automatically stop flow if the gage glass breaks or the connecting pipe fails.
How It Works:
Under normal conditions, the ball sits in an open position, allowing free flow between the vessel and the gage glass. If a sudden pressure differential occurs — like glass breakage causing rapid outflow — the ball is forced against its seat, sealing the connection and preventing continued fluid loss.
