Style SF (side flange)

The most popular chamber configuration, the SF/ST/SW styles feature a flange on the bottom of the chamber for float installation / removal and a pipe cap designed in accordance with ASME Section VIII guidelines on the top of the chamber. With all chamber configurations, clearances for installation and maintenance must be considered. In order to install the level gage, a distance greater than the float length is required below the bottom process connection. In order to allow access to the float after installation, a clearance equal to twice the float length should be designed into the system.

ESF / EST / ESW Styles:

Style SF (side flange)

Style ST/SW (side thread / socket weld)

The ESF/EST/ESW styles feature a flange end on both the top and bottom of the chamber for float installation / removal. Popular for refining applications, flanges on both ends provides access to the float from either the top or bottom of the chamber and allows for easier cleaning / flushing of the chamber in the event of process contamination or build-up. If design considerations do not allow enough clearance below the bottom process connection, these configurations could be utilized while maintaining float access.

MC Styles:

Style MC (modified chamber) (top side / bottom flanged)

The modified chamber style provides virtually unlimited flexibility to custom configure a magnetic level gage chamber to meet customer specific requirements. The modified chamber could have many different forms, two examples of which are shown here.

EF Style:

Style EF(end flanged)

  The EF configuration is utilized for “in-line” mounting of a magnetic level gage. When specifying an EF style, note the differences between the overall length of the gage and the visible range. The size of the blind section at the bottom of the gage will be driven by the float size, based on pressure, temperature and specific gravity.

BEF Style:

Style BEF (Bottom End Flanged) (Tank Top)

The BEF configuration is unique as it mounts directly to the top of a vessel rather than the side. A BEF style gage features two floats. The lower float rides in the process fluid and generates buoyancy for the gage. The upper float carries the magnet assembly to drive the indicator, switches or transmitter. The two floats are connected via a connecting rod. As the liquid level inside the vessel fluctuates, the two floats move in unison to indicate the level of liquid in the vessel. For longer length gages, a stilling pipe is recommended to keep the lower float in-line with the gage and minimize any turbulence effects. The range achievable will be based on the size of the mounting flange in addition to your process conditions.
